Then a few days ago I check Brickseek and it shows still available at a Target 20 minutes away and figured why not. So I found out about the DK deal a week ago, but was too lazy to go. I found it just challenging enough, but I also enjoyed trying out all the different abilities. Most of the challenge is, rightly, saved for the second half of the game.īut the Kirby games have always been about empowerment, giving you a lot of tools and powers to play with. But some of the collectables in the levels, and some of the bosses, required me to try several times before I was able to get them. Now, the game is certainly much easier compared to Mario - there's never a question of running out of lives, and rarely a question of being able to finish a level. The fun house level is when I thought, "Okay, this is really cool, I'm impressed." Personally, I thought it was pretty good until I got to the fun house level, and then I thought it was really good. Third, I'm not sure how much into Triple Deluxe you played, but it gets more interesting and challenging as you go along. I myself disliked GTA IV and Animal Crossing New Leaf where everyone else seemed to love them.
Second, I think everyone should be free to like and dislike games. So, first, I love that your library let's you check out games. People are probably gonna hate for having this opinion, but I'm just giving an honest assessment. I guess I could see it entertaining someone who just wants something more casual without a whole lot of thought or strategy behind it, but as far as what I want out of a gaming experience, I need to be challenged at least somewhat, and Kirby doesn't seem to be that at all. The character and theme of the franchise never appealed to me in the first place and I can't say that that has changed after having actually tried a couple of the games now. Clearly there is not much of an element of logistical exploration. Additionally, I found the level design tended to be quite simplistic and uninspired, which is not helped by the fact that you can just fly everywhere anyway. I also felt like you were presented with various transformations far too frequently to really be able to have the time and usage to truly appreciate any one of them. The concept of all the various transfomations and the resultant diverse set of attacks and moves was a good one, but it feels very much like a missed opportunity and wasted on a game that has little challenge. My local library has video games and I checked out Kirby Triple Deluxe to give it a try, but it, like Planet Robobot, just does not hold my interest and I find it boring. Thank you to all for reporting in your findings here.
* Will update the post with new games if news of additional ones surfaces. From comments I have read you can scan items in-store with the official Target app on your phone and if it shows a lower price you can have them match the app. Note: If you see a higher price in a particular store compared to what Brickseek showed then it probably just means that the store hasn't yet updated or marked down the items like they should be.
